A testimony and the week ahead
One of our staff members, Hilary Lind, spent last week in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine teaching at a Discipleship Training School (DTS) there. Here is his testimony of the last week:
During the week of November 16-20 I taught in the Kyiv DTS on “The Father Heart of God”. There were 13 students from 7 different nations. It was an amazing week of learning about how we are created, why we are created and our identity in Christ; the value that God places on us as His children; His unconditional love for us and His commitment to us. Three of the students grew up as orphans, several others grew up without a father, either through death or divorce and still others had fathers who were not very loving so many in the class found it difficult to relate to God as a loving father. Several times during class we stopped and prayed for revelation and God was faithful to reach not only the mind, but the heart as well.
Here’s what some said concerning the week:
· “The last week I felt really beat up by the enemy and not sure of who I am. Now I can relax because I know who I am.” – Jenny
· “Other speakers helped me take one step closer to God. This week you helped me take two steps closer to God.” – Yura
· “I thought I had heard all the teaching about Gods father heart and really understood it, but you opened up so much more to me this week.” – Tanya (staff)
In the evenings I was able to spend time with some of the students for dinner and enjoyed authentic Swedish Meatballs as well as Plov prepared by a student from Tajikistan. It was a great week in so many ways, but seeing the hearts and minds of the students transformed was absolutely the best.-by Hilary Lind
Week ahead
- This week is going to be an exciting week for us. On Thursday we will be celebrating Thanksgiving by getting together as a YWAM Lutsk family for a time of fellowship.
- On Saturday, the Ukrainian day of remembering the famine (1932-1933) we will engage in Operation Bread alongside a local church, Golgofa. We will be handing out bread, New Testaments and candles to people in different apartment blocks. Candles were put in windows as a sign that someone was still alive. For more information about this event in Ukraine’s history see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine_famine Please be praying for this evangelistic event.
- The same day on Saturday, our base family ministry is going to run a seminar in “God’s grace” church on two subjects: “Family unity” and “Biblical view of contraception” and also speak on a radio in a Christian program “I believe” on family relationships.
